The 2019 Ventoux Artemia is a 75-25 blend of Syrah and Grenache, matured in equal portions of barriques, demi-muids and concrete tanks. From a high-elevation plateau of gravelly limestone, it's a more northern style of Syrah, with floral and herbal notes on the nose and hints of cracked pepper. Medium-bodied, it's fresh and zesty, yet with firm tannins and savory black olives on the long finish.

Impressive as a prospective blend taken from equal proportions of barriques, demi-muids and tanks, the 2018 Ventoux Artemia boasts exuberant notes of cherries and blueberries accented by assertive notes of cracked pepper. It's full-bodied, creamy and lush, then firms up just enough on the finish to think it will have a decade of longevity.

A blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache, the 2017 Ventoux Artemia features scents of violets and white pepper complemented by a base of blueberry and raspberry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, with a smooth, appealing texture and a silky finish, it should drink well for 7-8 years.

A 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, aged in 50% new oak, the 2016 Ventoux Artemia is a tremendous effort. It combines blueberries and stone fruit with cedary notes and then underscores those attractive aromas and flavors with a full-bodied, velvety texture and a bright, crisp finish. Lovely stuff.
