The 2009 Amalia is a blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Carmenere, cropped at 35hl/ha and raised in French oak for 12 months. It has a rich, ostentatious bouquet with dark cherry, kirsch and creme de cassis that shows a modicum of restraint. The palate is smooth and rounded on the dark chocolate covered entry. It glides across the palate with seductive, silky smooth tannins and a lush, mocha-coated finish. It is not a complex wine, but is packed full of flavor. Drink now-2017.
