With aeration, reductive aromas dissipate sufficiently to reveal the bouquet of smoky green and yellow orchard fruit, introducing the 2016 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Haut Marconnets Blanc. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, rich and textural, with racy acids and more concentration than most of Chanson's whites this year, presumably because of yields reduced by frost. Whatever the reason, the result is a success.
