Identified as a “Bianco Aromatico,” the 2012 Moscato Bianco Jalal is not as obviously fragrant as you may expect. This light, luminous white shows restraint and moderation with mineral nuances, brimstone and dried apricot. There’s a distant note of oxidation that recalls crushed walnut or hazelnut. The fruit for Jalal is cold-soaked and fermented with ambient yeast. The nicest aspects to the wine, however, are the pretty menthol and medicinal aromas that pop up on the finish.
