The 2002 “T” (Quinta da Terrugem) is a blend of Aragones, Cabernet Sauvignon and Trincadeira. Full and deep, this opens disjointed but rounds into form up to a point. It opens with intensity and substantial grip on the finish. It has persistent flavors, tinged with red berry fruit nuances. I gave this a lot of air and saw the fruit turning darker, a little more plum-nuanced. It seemed Cabernet-dominated at the outset, but the other varietals seemed to take over eventually. I was not quite as impressed with the end result as I originally thought I might be, but this still turned out to be a pretty nice wine that went through multiple stages. The moral of the story is that this wine really needs cellaring. Considering the price differential, I might prefer to drink the 2004 regular Tinto reviewed here from this Quinta instead, though. There were approximately 1,172 cases produced. Drink 2009-2017. This big company, with holdings throughout several Portuguese wine regions, brought in Michel Rolland and Pascal Chatonnet in 1999 to consult. Chatonnet remains, working with winemaker Francisco Antunes. From what I have seen, this big company does a nice job of crafting quality wines at generally fair prices.Various importers: Tri-Vin Imports, Mt. Vernon, NY; tel.
