Pecorino is an obscure white grape cultivated on the Adriatic coast, but it seems to offer a certain size and volume on the palate and manages to maintain its acidity in this warm climate area. The barrel-fermented 2001 Pecorino is one of the better examples currently on the market, with peach and caramel aromas and good depth, definition, and crispness of flavor. The track record is non-existent in this case, but I suspect that this wine could last two or three more years and improve as well.I have had some problems here with excessively funky wines in recent years, but the arrival of oenologist Lorenzo Landi seems to have cleaned things up in a hurry.Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel.
