The Castello di Farnetella 2019 Lucilla offers a medium-dark ruby color and nice, easy concentration. The wine is amply perfumed with cherry, fresh plum and summer lavender flower. The Castello di Farnetella 2018 Lucilla is 70% Sangiovese cut with equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an easy and approachable red wine to drink with your favorite pasta or meat dish. From a cooler vintage, the wine offers some bitter fruit and sour cherry with crushed stone and herbs on the close. The mouthfeel is thin and short in this vintage, making for an informal and easy personality. Production is an ample 19,000 bottles.

This is Sangiovese with smaller parts Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). The 2017 Lucilla is deep and dark in character but also refreshingly light and buoyant on the senses. This wine is charged with a feel-good energy that permeates the bouquet and the medium-weight finish. The Lucilla takes an informal and accessible approach to the whole super Tuscan concept: Sometimes you need a solid wine like this to pair with take-out pizza, eggplant parmesan or other old-school classics from your nearby Italian restaurant. Some 13,000 bottles were made.

The 2016 Lucilla is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. You get great value with this food-friendly and fruit-forward Tuscan red. Lucilla would pair well with grilled meats or your favorite pasta recipes. Dark cherry, blackberry and spice segues to rose petal and grilled herb. Some 16,000 bottles were made.

The 2015 Lucilla is 70% Sangiovese with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This is a great red wine to pair with home cooked meals of pasta or roasted meat. It offers a clean and food-friendly approach with bright acidity, tonic freshness and generous fruit flavors. Cherry and blackberry segue to light shades of spice and balsam herb.
