The pure Garnacha (but not explicitly stated on the label) 2021 El Molar has more finesse and a paler color than the Monastrell wine. It feels very Mediterranean, aromatic and showy, with good ripeness, varietal, with notes of cherries in liqueur, more Chateauneuf than any of the previous vintages with intense notes of garrigue that keep growing in the glass. It has aromas of Mediterranean herbs and an intense chalky sensation in the palate. It has great balance. It matured in larger and neutral barrels and 5,000-liter oak foudres. 40,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in February/March 2023.

The perfect Mediterranean vintage produced an outstanding Garnacha. The 2020 El Molar fermented with 35% full clusters and matured in a combination of 500-liter barrels and 5,000-liter foudres for one year. The wine is very young and tender; it feels more delicate despite having a little more alcohol than the 2019 (it's 15%) and with a slightly lower pH (3.49). It's super aromatic, extroverted and expressive, floral, elegant and complex. There is great balance, and the wine feels fresher and less ripe; it's refreshing and has a core of minerality and super fine tannins with pungent flavors. There is precision, elegance and balance, the three words that define the vintage. All the wines are very good value, but this is a steal. 40,000 bottles were filled in March 2022.

The Garnacha bottling from 2019, the 2019 El Molar, was produced with the grapes from three plots of vines planted on gravel and sandy soils covered with tosca stones planted in 2004, 2006 and 2010. 2019 was marked by torrential rains on September 13th that changed everything, but the Garnacha (and the Syrah) were harvested before the rain, so this wine is from a "normal" Mediterranean vintage. Fifty percent full clusters were used for the native fermentation in underground stone pools with a short maceration. It matured in 500-liter oak barrels and 5,000-liter oak vats for 12 months. It's a little lower in alcohol but shows ripeness (without excess), but the core is floral, perfumed and elegant. The tannins are very fine-grained with the essence of the limestone soils, that chalky quality of the texture. Very impressive for a 2019. 26,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2020.

The varietal Garnacha 2018 El Molar war produced with grapes from three different plots within the estate on different soils (gravel and sand with a limestone base) planted in 2004, 2006 and 2010. It fermented in underground stone pools with 50% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in 5,000-liter oak foudres and 500-liter oak barrels for 14 months. It's a perfect example of the more delicate and slightly lighter style of the vintage, serious, nuanced and harmonious, a little closed and very young. Continental and cooler vintages take more time to open up, and this starts quite shy and requires plenty of air and time in the glass to start taking off. The summer was very short and the start of the harvest was late. It has refreshing acidity and very fine tannins with a more subtle profile than the 2017 with an herbal touch of freshness in the finish. It has to be one of the most delicate vintages of El Molar, and they also managed to increase volumes as the newest Garnacha vineyards come into production, so it's also used for other blends. This is every bit as good as the best vintage produced. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2019.

There is a high-pitched red fruit note on the nose of the 2017 El Molar, and it's a wine with a lot of light, something that is quite remarkable for a warm and Mediterranean year like 2017. This is a Garnacha that feels like a wine from a cool year, with plenty bright red fruit. I tasted it two weeks after it was bottled, and it felt completely harmonious and relaxed. As with most of the 2017s, this seems like the finest vintage for this wine. It has a lighter color and a more fragrant nose, and it’s immediately identifiable within the Casa Castillo range. 28,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2019.
