The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Collection is a simple wine, with little concentration or finish, although the texture is appealingly lush due to the oak and the structure is acceptable for its price range. It has some herbaceous notes on the back end. It is pleasant enough, but goes nowhere in particular with air, with the fruit, such as it is, sometimes disguised by the oak. There are some light tannins for support, and they become more obvious as the wine airs out. It should be early maturing, though, and it does not seem likely to develop particularly well in the cellar. It faded fast. It can be an acceptable quaffer for early drinking, but it is too simple and foursquare for much else. This is Mevushal. Drink now-2010.
