The 2006 Zinfandel Pietro’s Ranch (from a vineyard planted in 1905, and in this blend, 85% Zinfandel and 15% mixed blacks) is perhaps my favorite wine of all the Zinfandels. Absolutely seamless, an example of Zinfandel haute couture, this stunningly proportioned wine exhibits a deep ruby purple color, a sweet nose of black raspberries, hints of Provencal herbs (or is it garrigue?) with some chocolate and other briery fruits. Full-bodied, rich, and long, this is a tour de force in Zinfandel that should drink beautifully for at least a decade. There were only 195 cases produced.Previously recommended: 2004 Syrah Judge Family Vineyard (95), 2004 Syrah Pelkan Ranch (90), 2004 Three Birds (93), 2004 Two Acres (93), 2004 Zinfandel Carlisle Vineyard (93), 2004 Zinfandel Carlo’s Ranch (91), 2004 Zinfandel Fava Ranch (91), 2004 Zinfandel Rossi Ranch (92), 2004 Zinfandel Tom Feeney Ranch (94).Tel.
