Something of a pioneer of warm-climate grapes among Margaret River wineries, Cape Mentelle has turned out a solid 2017 Grenache that's not a huge, dark blockbuster. Weighing in at 13% alcohol, it boasts attractive shadings of peppermint, red peppercorns, strawberries and blackberries. It's medium-bodied and taut, with firm tannins on the finish and no excess flesh.
