The 1978 Beaune 1er Cru Bressandes from Camille Giround, obviously predating David Croix's arrival since he would have been about three years old, has a mature tawny colour. The nose is a bit old and leathery with just a faint tang of menthol that becomes more evident as it opens up. It is soft on the entry with a smudge of soy, some dryness creeping in here, but the tertiary finish is commendable. It's not a wine I would leave for much longer, but there are vestiges of pleasure to be found if you don't mind your Burgundy on the austere side. Tasted June 2015.
