The Byron winery, which was acquired by Robert Mondavi in 1990, continues to turn out attractive Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Improvements are warranted with respect to the Pinot Noir program. Both Sauvignon Blancs are attractive. The 1992 is pleasant in a straightforward manner, crisp, delicious, and light to medium-bodied. The 1991 is slightly softer, as well as richer and more expansive on the palate, with attractive honeyed fig, melon, and herb scents and flavors. Both should be drunk over the next 12-18 months. Tel.
