The 2014 Pradorey Finca Valdelayegua Crianza is sourced from their 117-hectare Valdelayegua vineyard. It's a Tempranillo-based blend with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, and matured in oak barrels for one year followed by three months in 21,000-liter French oak vats. It's a clear improvement over previous vintages, with good balance and no excess, integrated oak and clean, focused aromas and flavors. The tannins are fine-grained and there's also good freshness. The 2014 vintage resulted in 178,000 bottles, quite a jump in production figures from the last vintage I tasted, the 2011.
