A new offering from this reliable producer, the 1995 Izar de Vega (a 3,000-case blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 30% Tempranillo) is Spain's version of a mid-level Pauillac. Notes of cassis, plums, tobacco, and cedar emerge from this dark ruby/purple-colored wine. Rich and medium-bodied, with supple tannin as well as low acidity, it should be consumed over the next 2-3 years.
