The neon pink-colored 2012 Vega Sindoa Rose (100% Grenache) offers abundant notes of strawberries and cherries. It is somewhat simple, but attractive, and should have been drunk up by the time this report is published. Bodegas Nekeas, a high-quality, value-priced winery owned by eight families in Navarra, owns over 577 acres of relatively high elevation vineyards. Most of the vines were planted between 1989 and 1997, with the exception of their superb old vine Grenache vineyard, El Chaparral, which was planted between 1890 and 1930. The other wines I tasted included an excellent, deep and fluorescent pink-colored 2011 Vega Sindoa Rose. Made from 100% Grenache, this wine exhibits loads of strawberry and framboise notes as well as hints of flowers and minerals in a medium-bodied, deep, bright, vibrant style. Drink it over the next 12 months. Bodegas Nekeas is located in the town of Anorbe, north of Navarra in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Owned by eight separate families, it is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to value wines that Jorge Ordonez discovered at the beginning of his career. The 2010 Rose is 100% Garnacha displaying fragrant cherry blossoms, strawberry, and cranberry aromas. Dry, savory, and nicely balanced with good acidity, this very good value will provide enjoyment over the next 12-18 months.
