Luis Canas may have a couple of more expensive wines on the marketplace, but this gran reserva from a classic vintage is its best. Attractive immediately, with bacon, violet, leather and pure dark-berry aromas. The feel is firm but comfortable, with vivid plum, raspberry and oak flavors. Finishes with balance and ease, showing lasting chocolate and vanilla. Good now but can age another decade if you so desire.——M.S.(2/1/2009)—— 93
