The 2020 Monteagrelo Syrah has limited varietal character and an unusual herbal twist coupled with some toasty notes (from the new oak vats?). This Syrah from Vistaflores (not Agrelo!) comes from 35-year-old vines on sandy and limestone soils. It has 14.5% alcohol, a medium to full-bodied palate and abundant tannins. It will be better with food. 10,000 bottles were filled in December 2021.

The 2013 Syrah Monteagrelo is produced from vines planted in Agrelo. It matured in oak barrels for 15 months before bottling. It's a ripe and spicy red with plenty of vanilla and cinnamon aromas and a touch of smoke, a little oaky. It's a juicy, round and soft version of the Rh?ne grape that fills the palate with lush fruit. It is accessible and drinkable. With time, it develops meaty and varietal characteristics.

Lightly mulled plum fruit is laced with hints of spice and white pepper. A dash of rhubarb marks the finish. Drink now. 250 cases made, 100 cases imported.??–JM??Region: Argentina / Mendoza Select to Add
