Very deep garnet with a hint of purple to the color, the 2009 Mazi Syrah is profoundly scented of blackberry pie, prunes and blueberry compote with underlying chocolate, fruit cake, coffee and cinnamon stick hints. Medium to full bodied, the palate is leaner than the nose suggests and tautly structured with very crisp acid and a medium to firm level of chewy, slightly astringent tannins, finishing long. Give it another year or two for the fruit to open in the mouth and drink it 2013 to 2018+. BK Wines does not currently have a USA importer.
