One wonders if Benziger would not have been better off blending the impressive 1992 Petit Verdot with a modest quantity of Merlot or perhaps even Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon. This impressive wine requires a decade of cellaring. The opaque purple color is followed by a nose offering copious quantities of rich, tarry, cassis aromas. Full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, this muscular, intensely-styled wine is almost too powerful to drink at present. Those with patience who want a mystery beverage for a blind tasting circa 2010 might think about purchasing this impressively-endowed wine. Tel. (707) 935-3000
