This is a very enjoyable wine that explores the aromatic finesse and the silky texture of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. The Bastianich 2019 Friuli Colli Orientali Sauvignon Vini Orsone opens to citrus, passion fruit, almond blossom and some fresh basil or mint. The wine is almost lean-bodied, but not completely, as there is subtle textural fiber that weights it down nicely onto the palate. If you are looking for a textbook Sauvignon Blanc from northeast Italy (at a terrific value) to serve with some grilled fish, look no further. Some 30,000 bottles were produced.
