2010 is not an easy act to follow, but the 2011 Gran Reserva does a nice job. It's a classical, balsamic, developed and tasty blend of Tempranillo with 15% Graciano from Rioja Alta, matured in French and American oak barrels that provided the textbook notes of cigar box, tobacco leaves, incense, cloves, black pepper and sweet spices. It's round and soft, with polished tannins and good acidity. Very good indeed. 200,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2014.
