A release of 4,460 bottles, the Scarzello 2015 Barolo Sarmassa Vigna Merenda is nicely balanced but generous, with dark cherry and cassis, spice, licorice and tarry smoke after its bottle evolution. The wine remains thinly textured with more length and persistence rather than power of volume, per se.

Inviting red and black fruit aroma. Has very attractive, subtle, tangy fruit, supple tannins, well balanced acidity and a lively fruit character. Delicious. Alc: 14%.

Beautiful nose, kirsch and spiced plum nose. Brooding depths. Poised, elegant energy. Tannins are fine grained and full of textural interest. Pure, layerd and long.
