Andrew Will's medium-to-dark ruby-colored 1996 Cabernet Franc is a lovely wine. Its aromas of stewed tomatoes, wheat, minerals, herbs, and candied blueberries are reminiscent of a Chinon from an extremely hot and ripe vintage. On the palate, any similarities with a wine from the Loire end abruptly. This magnificently balanced wine is crammed with jammy red, blue, and black fruits that reveal a level of ripeness unheard of in red Loire wines. It is medium-to-full-bodied, highly focused, and well-defined. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.Note: The Andrew Will Winery is located in a residential neighborhood on Vashon Island. An ordinance prevents Anne and Chris Camarda from receiving visitors to the winery as it would impose on their neighbor's privacy.Tel. (206) 463-3290.
