Amity has a policy of releasing his Pinot Noirs after they have had sufficient bottle age. Sometimes this works, while other times the fruit is muted and faded by the time the wines arrive on the market. If you are looking for up-front, delicious, sweet fruit in a medium-bodied, exuberant format, check out Amity's 1991 Gamay Noir. A Beaujolais-look-alike made from Pinot Noir, it is a terrific wine for casual drinking or picnics. Serve it chilled and enjoy it for its freshness and purity over the next year.
