The 2009 Nuts and Bolts (Syrah) is a rich, textured wine layered with black fruit, licorice, leather and spices, all of which come together in a sumptuous fabric. This is another strong showing from Herman Story, although a little more complexity would be nice. Nuts and Bolts was made from a number of vineyards and aged 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 55% were new. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017.
These two wines from Harrison Clarke are made in an overt, jammy style with tons of richness and textural opulence.
