The 1993 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Classique (42% Grenache, 24% Mourvedre, 12% Syrah, with the balance Cinsault) exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, sweet, black-cherry and cassis fruit, full body, excellent concentration, and a long, savory, velvety-textured finish. It should drink well for at least a decade. Alain Dugas has been gradually increasing the quality of the wines made at this historic estate. Filters have finally been eliminated for the red wines and readers will consequently find that the estate's Chateauneufs have a more natural richness and chewier mouth feel.Importer: Veuve Clicquot Imports, New York, NY; tel.
