The 1999 Shiraz, a blend of fruit from McLaren Vale and Padthaway. It is a big, gutsy, smoky, earthy, black currant, and blackberry-scented and flavored, exotic, rich, ripe, layered Shiraz with adequate acidity, sweet tannin, and admirable succulence. It is not far off the mark of the Rayner Shiraz, which costs twice as much. Moreover, it is far better than the Graveyard cuvee, which costs three times as much! How can that be? Anticipated maturity: now-2009.
