Surprisingly, the 2003 Pinot Noir White Rose Vineyard offers pumpkin-laced dark fruit aromas, a trait I’ve only previously witnessed in wines from Oregon’s Bednarik Vineyard. Big, rich, and broad, it slathers the palate with thick layers of black cherry syrup. Powerful, yet suave and seductive, this is a dense, exceptionally ripe Pinot that is also remarkably well-balanced. Drink this sumptuous wine between 2007 and 2015.
It is heartening to see that Mark Vlossak, St.-Innocent’s winemaker and co-owner, has maintained reasonable prices even after having received considerable praise for his wines over the years.
