Knoll’s 2005 Gruner Veltliner Federspiel Kreutles smells resinous, herbal, and surprisingly esterous, just as its impression on the palate is surprisingly ripe and glossy for Federspiel. A finishing character of herbal elixir with a hint of sweetness complete the attractive if not entirely typical version of Kreutles Federspiel. Also recommended: 2005 Gruner Veltliner Federspiel ($22.00; 86), 2005 Riesling Pfaffenberg Kabinett (not available; 86).Importer: Vin Divino, Chicago, IL; tel. (773) 334-6700
