Of these three single-vineyard wines, the 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Contessa Luisa is the most complete and seamless. The wine opens to darkly saturated fruit with good definition in terms of its dried cherry and blackberry characteristics. Spice, smoke, tar and licorice fill in the background. The wine is lean and streamlined on the finish. It ages in tonneaux for 24 months. Present it alongside a platter of beef carpaccio and crostini with chicken-liver paté. Only 2,858 bottles were filled.
