Now updated to Gran Selezione status, the 2012 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione La Tradizione (100% Sangiovese) is a dark and well-concentrated wine with savory notes of dried fruit, black cherry and leather. It shows rich density and a beautifully saturated ruby color. Yet, instead of soft fruit, the wine offers some tightness and astringency that needs to relax with a little more bottle aging. The wine is fermented in cement tanks and is then transferred to French barrique for aging. Only 6,000 bottles are produced.
