Starting the Pinots, the 2011 Pinot Noir Kessler Haak Vineyard comes from a vineyard located just to the west of Clos Pepe. Fermented with 40% whole cluster, it’s a gorgeous red that offers up notions of red and black cherries, underbrush and spice to go with a bright, medium-bodied, elegant profile on the palate. Possessing fine tannin, notable balance and excellent mid-palate depth, it will impress for upwards of a decade. Drink now-2021. This is a great lineup by Chad Melville. Neutral oak, no SO2 until racking, varying degrees of whole cluster, native yeasts and a very cold cellar are the name of the game here and these are have individual, unique profiles.
