An ample, supple wine, the 2001 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes displays ripe apple aromas. Its light to medium-bodied character is awash in crisp apples and zesty minerals. Surprisingly, as with some other 2001s I tasted elsewhere (most notably at Domaine Leflaive), this wine's finish reveals some "tannic" rusticity in its youth. Nonetheless, it has excellent depth, breadth, and a supple, sexy mid-palate. Drink it over the next 5 years. Importers: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel.
