The 2008 Shiraz “Secret Reserve - Sod” is, like most of the Shiloh offerings reviewed this issue, quite elegant in the mid-palate and nicely constructed. It doesn’t have a lot of character – although it began to seem more varietally true with some air – but it is utterly charming and graceful, a pleasure to drink. As it airs out, it shows some tannic punch, which should serve it well over the next few years. Drink now-2017. Although Shiloh is normally imported by Royal Wine, a Kosher specialist, note that these wines will not be as they are all from 2008 – a Shmitta year. Any prices listed are just illustrative, based on past performance.Importer: Royal Wine Corp., Bayonne, NJ; tel. (718) 534-0118.
