Pinot Noir has been a mixed blessing for the Andersons. Some vintages have been very Burgundian and delicious, while others have possessed washed out color as well as unpleasant green flavors. The 2002 cuvee is a huge improvement over the 2001. Allspice, sassafras, and herbs jump from the glass of the smoky, spicy, dark plum-colored 2002 Pinot Noir Dutton Vineyard. Made in a decidedly different style than the Valhalla, with more of Pinot’s herbal, spicy element as opposed to fruit, it will drink well for 4-6 years. Tel. (707) 963-8600; Fax (707) 963-7818
