The 1999 Sandeman Vintage Porto has a pleasant bouquet with cassis, black currant, clove and even a suggestion of licorice “All Sorts.” It is nicely defined and opens with aeration. The palate is well-balanced on the entry and displays more focus and delineation than the 1997. This is a lovely modern-day Sandeman, the tannins finer than previous vintages with a focused, precise finish. This is worth seeking out. Drink now-2035.
