An impressive wine from Ribera del Duero, the 1996 Marques de Velilla is a blend of 85% Tinta del Pais and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in some new American oak. Produced from the vineyard's youngest vines (approximately 10 years old), it possesses a dark ruby color, as well as copious quantities of black cherry and berry fruit, medium to full body, a soft, charming, seductive texture, and enough spice for complexity. This round, mouthfilling, fleshy, satisfying Spanish red will drink well for 4-5 years.Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates From Spain, Dedham, MA; tel. (781) 461-5767
