This winery has made significant progress with respect to its fine wine program. The bizarre, vegetal wines of the past are history. Santa Barbara is now producing a mixed line-up of generally fine Chardonnays, good Pinot Noirs, and a curious Beaujolais-like Zinfandel. The 1991 Sauvignon Blanc-Reserve Musque offers a big, floral, herb, and fruit-scented nose, and delicious, ripe, zesty flavors buttressed nicely by crisp acidity. This personality-filled Sauvignon will work well with a variety of dishes. Drink it over the next year.
