The 2001 Barbera d’Alba Pian Romualdo, one of the great spots for Barbera in the area to the south of Alba, is a full ruby in color, very elegant and floral in its aromas, though the plum and blackberry fruit is not lacking, shapely, focused, and long on the palate, fresh but smooth and sweet as well. This is a Barbera which can last – the 1983 Pian Romualdo was still good after a decade – and can be consumed from 2004 to 2010. A Leonardo Locascio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel.
