The 2012 Barbera d'Alba Superiore Funtanì is named after a giant fountain found on the Cordero di Montezemolo property. This is a generous, soft and round expression of Barbera with dark fruit tones on the bouquet that segue to spice, tobacco and toasted chestnut. The bouquet is a little offbeat for Barbera, but the wine offers a cheerful and distinct personality nonetheless.

A healthy dose of new oak spices up this cherry- and plum-flavored red. A big version that begs for grilled meat. Purists may find this too oaky, but there is plenty of fruit underneath. Drink now through 2019. 800 cases made.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barbera d'Alba Select to Add
