Typical Santa Lucia Highlands tropical-inflected aromas and flavors meld together in the 2012 Chardonnay Dos Rubios Vineyard. Crème bruleé, spices, mint and orange zest all add complexity on an intense, layered finish supported by expressive saline notes. This is a gorgeous set of wines from Testarossa. Unfortunately I was not able to taste the entire range, but I hope to see the rest of the 2012s later this year. In 2012, winemaker Bill Brosseau opted for lower temperatures than normal for his Pinots, as he felt there was more than enough inherent richness in the fruit. As always, the Testarossa Pinots are made entirely from destemmed fruit. The 2012 Pinots were aged in tight-grain low toast barrels.
