From a unique, old parcel in the VDP.Grosse Lage and cultivated on stony, skeleton-rich gravel and loamy soils with porphyry rock in the subsoil, the 2021 Heerkretz Pinot Noir GG offers a pure and refreshing bouquet of red and just-ripe black fruits and red cherries intertwined with toasty, vegetal and finely saline mineral notes. Silky and saline on the palate, this is a pure yet intense, even juicy and fleshy, very elegant and refined Pinot with remarkably fine tannins and precise, finely structured fruit. On the fresh, aromatic and saline finish, initially there are toasty as well as chocolate notes, but they become fruitier and juicier (and less toasty) with aeration; it's a really clear, fresh, juicy and defined finish. Aged for 18 months in used French barriques. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted in January 2024.
