Mas Comtal’s red entry, the 2003 Petrea Tinto, is 100% Merlot produced from organically grown grapes and aged for 10 months in barrel followed by 3 years in bottle prior to release. It displays an already complex perfume from its extended aging. Aromas of smoke, cherry blossom, violets, and black raspberry lead to a firm, savory, balanced wine with a plush palate feel, good depth, and a pure finish. It is likely to evolve for another 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now through 2018.
