A potentially prodigious wine is the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard. From a vineyard located next to the famed To-Kalon Vineyard of Robert Mondavi, it boasts an opaque black/purple color as well as an awesome nose of spice box, black fruits, toast, and mineral. The wine is remarkably rich, full-bodied, and pure, with multiple layers of flavor, sweet tannin, low acidity, and a finish that goes on for a good 45+ seconds. There are 325 cases of this wine that was finished at 15.4% alcohol. Many of the vineyards they draw from are frequently cropped at 5-6 tons, but Les Behrens and Bob Hitchcock reduce yields by 50%.
