The 2004 TINTO, to be released in early 2008, is chock full of gorgeous fruit (48% Touriga Nacional, 23% Alicante Bouschet, 23% Aragonez, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon). It has beautiful aromatics, and combines richness with at least some elegance. It is gripping on the finish, and I expect it to age gracefully. If it does not quite have the exuberance and lushness of the 2003 Tinto, it is perhaps more balanced, intense and focused. On Day 2, it still was closed and tight, and still drinking well after leaving it on the table open for another seven hours. It is hard to say which of these is better. The 2003 certainly shows better today, but this will likely overtake it in the long haul, and might even merit a score increase. These two wines may be the best one-two punch Alentejo produced in these two vintages. Drink 2010-2022. Importer: Truman Wines, Los Angeles, Ca.; tel: (310) 994-9030.
