The 2012 Bolgheri Superiore shows a dark and savory side of the appellation with pressed fruit nuances followed by spice, leather and wet earth. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc offers what I can only describe a traditional interpretation of the appellation with some rawness and rusticity at the edges. The wine takes on better shape with time (I also decanted the bottle). It opens very slowly.

Packed with juicy black currant and blackberry flavors from start to finish, this red also evokes licorice, spice and tar accents. Dense and well-structured, with fine balance and a long, fruit- and spice-filled finish. Best from 2016 through 2024. 2,500 cases made, 350 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Bolgheri Select to Add
