Produced from 40-50 year old vines, the 1997 Corton-Charlemagne has great aromatic depth. It offers scents of toasty minerals that give way to its medium-to-full-bodied, broad, and rich character. Its satiny flavor profile, composed of sweet white fruits, minerals, and bacon, is massively dense, well-balanced, and extremely long in the finish. Bize, who believes he may have been the last to harvest his Corton parcel, has fashioned a truly wonderful wine in 1997, his first vintage with this newly acquired cru. Projected maturity: 2001-2007.
