The 2000 Tenores is a phenomenally rich Chateauneuf du Pape look-alike aged in cement tanks prior to bottling. It possesses a dark ruby/garnet/purple color as well as a super nose of kirsch liqueur intermixed with pepper, spice cake, and cedar. Opulently-textured, with great intensity, huge, sweet, pure fruit, and a broad, expansive, generous finish, this impressive 2000 will drink well for 10-12 years. This offering was produced from the indigenous Cannonau grape, which is believed to be related to Grenache. Dettori is a relatively new winery dedicated to old vines and low yields. Even though the wine is impressive, the pricing suggests a degree of arrogance and should be re-evaluated. Nevertheless, this is a promising Italian red.Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel.
