Winemaker Charles Hopkins has a fondness for the more austere Saint-Emilion style, and it shows in this taut but expressive Merlot. Though restrained and elegant, the wine exhibits energetic aromas of red fruit and spice, and on the palate is rounded out by hints of chocolate and coffee.
